The Midlander Super Grimpeur Series
Saturday 28th June 2008
Mere Green, Birmingham
Travel the length of the Peak District in a day - twice!
Welcome to the 2008 Midlander Super Grimpeur rides. This year I'll be running two events that take you from the outer suburbs of Birmingham right through the rugged scenery of the Peak District.
The Midlander Super Grimpeur is a 300km audax event riding north from Birmingham to Holmfirth and back, with the shorter 230km ride passing through Longnor and Bamford.
These are challenging rides, with incredible scenery throughout. The 230km ride has over 3,000 metres of climbing as it passes through Staffordshire and Deryshire. The 300km presses north to Yorkshire, taking in a couple of the larger passes in area, pushing the climbing up to 5,100 metres!
As these rides will be taking place in the middle of summer, you've as good a chance as ever of finishing either ride in daylight!
Your entry includes breakfast at the start of the ride, soup and cake at Bamford, cakes at Ashbourne and a hot meal and snacks at the end. Not to mention a full day of scenic cycling pleasure!
