Scotland and Northern Ireland maps and GPS files

I wish I got to Scotland more, and I'm sure I will be over the next couple of years. London - Edinburgh - London will be with us in 2009. Even then we even begin to fully appreciate just how wild, and hilly, Scotland is.

The table below has a list of audax events that take place in Scotland, along with an interactive map and a gps file to download. You can use the map to get an idea of where a route goes, and scroll in and out to see more detail. The GPS files are free to download, and are in GPX and Memory Map mmo file. As far as I know, there are no audax events yet taking place in Northern Ireland.

Bear in mind that some events change every year as a matter of course. The route here from 2007 might not be the same in 2008. Permanent rides are also occasionally updated, so if you plan to use these files when riding, make sure you check them against the route sheet when it arrives.

If you have a GPS file of an audax event or permanent ride that you'd like to share, feel free to drop me a line, and I'll be sure to post it here.

To download the gpx files, right click on the link, and select "save file as".

The Dee and Don - A delightful meander through the rolling Aberdeenshire countryside taking in stretches of the two main rivers (the Dee and Don) as well as some good but not overly tough climbs. The ride to Braemar and back on the A93 can be busy in high summer though and doesn't add much, except distance. This is the route from the 2003 edition of this event. Thanks to A Welch for the route. 200km DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD
The Snow Roads - A ride in the east of Scotand, starting from Kirriemuir. Many thanks to Steve Snook for the route. 300km DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD
